Cycling the world

A few days ago we went to the Cyclingworld Dusseldorf and it was terrific. The sun was on both sides of their best days, the fair is super organized and has a very relaxed atmosphere. The area Böhler is really a wonderful location for this small but fine fair.

Roads and Coffee

After almost six hours of driving once across the Republic, we were able to setup our booth in the evening and then take a refreshing hops-drink with our stand neighbors. Mattes from Triple2 was also back on site and so we were able to rummage through his assortment once again and treat ourselves with a delicious coffee.

Saturday started very relaxed, but after two hours everything changed. By noon the area was very well filled and we had our hands full of work. Good talks, very positive feedback and also the luck of being one of the few exhibitors with mountain bikes at the stand made us feel good.

Race Mode

Henri then rode the Cyclocross organized by the Cyclingworld on our Purple Haze test bike that evening and despite a difficult start made up some positions and came home as my personal winner. <3

If we thought that Saturday was already going on a lot, then the Sunday taught us better. It started just as the day before ended and we have to commend the organizers of Cyclingworld for it. A large and colorful audience let time pass by in no time. A big compliment to Cyclingworld!

Klunker Olympics

One of the world’s best bike shops has invited and we followed its call. “Klunkin” is on the program. An event made for our Bad Granny. The goal is clear, a small race, relaxed, because little, organizing and maximum fun on the bike. With this goal we went last weekend in a power line to Franconia.

When we received the invitation, I immediately called Flori and Eddi and asked them if they are in. An event exactly to their taste. Marten joined us as well and so we started together last Saturday. Previously, of course, the bike were checked for compliance with the rules of the so called Klunkerbehörde since they are very strict. Four out of seven criteria had to be fulfilled for the starting permission:

* Steel Frame
* 26 “wheels
* Coaster brake
* Single Speed
* Handlebar with welded brace
* something made of leather on the bike
* Metal rigid fork or fork which is not a telescope fork

Racing is life

After we were sure that the start permits would be issued, we went on the highway to the Franconian woods and from that point on s*!t started to get real! Approximately 25 starters plus spectators have seen thrilling duels, crashes but also tears of joy. The round course of two minutes had little overtaking opportunities and so the race was held in 4Cross style. Always four starters at the same time on the track, one lap and the first two per run come on.

Playing in the woods

So it was lively through the forest and between the runs, the starters could pick up some refreshment from Martin, the head oft he Klunkerbehörde. The race went quite well and even finished third for our Bad Granny. In summary, it was a really nice Saturday with nice conversations, the pinch of sporting ambition and still the fun was never lost sight of. Thanks for this race. There is a great need for repetition.
