Meeting: Basti

Basti joined our journey at the very beginning and is part of the delicate circle that collected the first impressions on their Sour Bicycles. So to say he cycled from Dresden to the Fahrradschau Berlin at zero hour. This gave us the opporturnity to present his personal builtup to you for the first time – we lucky ones.
Now we present Basti again – for the first time.

Who are you?
Sebastian Ott , 32

What about your biking experience?
Plenty: the enthusiasm for cycling has been haunting me since I was 13 years old. Training as a two-wheeler mechanic followed and now I am in the industry for 15 years. In my everyday life, the bike brings me wherever I want, be it the commute, tours or vacations.

How did you come to biking?
By my then school friend Denny. He already had a cool MTB and together – at a moment’s notice – we have been on the bike every day from now on. Preferably in the forest – the birch grove in Freital was our territory. In a little while I swapped my steel Spike MTB for a Schwinn Moab with suspension fork.

What ground to you prefer to ride?
Actually everywhere, in the past definitely more MTB, since 3 years mostly gravel and road.

Which model did you choose and why?
I chose the Purple Haze. Visually, this ride appeals to me the most and it combines in my eyes MTB and road at its best. In addition, I still own the Bad Granny what I am going to use for bikepacking.

What is the sweetest about SOUR?
Friends! Regional!

Please describe the highlights (setup, components, color,…) of your bike.
There are no special highlights About my ride. The entire setup and the harmony of all parts makes a bike a highlight or not.

What turns you SOUR?
Cool dudes who pull something sober-headed together.

What was your latest bike adventure?
By bike we went from Dresden to the source of the Elbe in the Krkonoše Mountains. On the way, my girlfriend and I were accompanied by SOUR founder Christoph until he left us shortly after the German-Czech border.

190 km towards, 150 km back, each with almost 3000hm . Beautiful views, heat, skinnydipping in the river, lots of photography, Kofola.

Name 3 things you request for the local bike-world.
The cyclist should experience more respect, more perception in road traffic. Less packaging s#1t … or if necessary, should be well thought out. Meaningful developments, not consumer driven s*!t.
