This is Karl! Please, come in

Last weekend we went to Pforzheim. On the trip to one of the three capitals of the digestive triangle we were accompanied by endless sunshine and pop music. The reason for this is the opening of KARL!

Wheels

Just in time for the start of the weekly after-work traffic we packed everything, made the roadtrip playlist clear and bagged Roman, who accompanied us on our little trip. Our view for a relaxed trip through the German countryside is a little clouded: temperatures hot as hell outside, the danger of air conditioning inside and the imminent start of the holiday season in the state of Bavaria.
Surprisingly, we got through the traffic very well and arrived at 19 o’clock local time and with 38°C in Eutingen. We were warmly welcomed by Alex and his freshly assembled team. After a short break, we unloaded all our nice presents, and then we jetted to the hotel for a little refreshing.
Freshly washed we chilled on the balcony, but since the view of grey commercial concrete does not exactly turn us on, we saddled our bikes and went back into the valley to Karl.
Together we sat in Alex’s lounge, chatted, shared pizza and had a nice evening. In the end Alex gave a small tour through his workshop and we conscientiously did the last task for the day after’s opening: The beer has to be in the fridge!!!

There is a new Karl in town

So who is this Karl? And is his surname Portus? And what does all this have to do with Alex?
Portus Cycles stands for handmade steel frames without limits and a fine love for detail for about five years now. Behind this unique manufactory stands Alex with his small family and many friends and supporters. They support him in the core and in the implementation of projects. At the beginning of the year Alex was looking for a new place for his impressive workshop and found it in Eutingen. As the local furniture store, which had fallen out of time, had to close down, the expanded premises also opened up new possibilities: Karl – Showroom with a focus on cargo bikes and a potential spot of the Pforzheim bike scene.
We can now consider ourselves lucky as we are the first external brand to drive up and exhibit our PickUp. But that’s not all: in addition to the heavyweights, Alex and Karl offer our entire sporty rattle gang. Oh yeah!

Living for the weekend

In Pforzheim, we just had a good time, besides our tasks. Short vacation for brain and butt. So we did not sit much in the saddle, but simply with Karl. Between conversations which led from technology to music of the future, there was always the possibility to take a deep breath. The prepared cold drinks were just right and a good help for a little nap. Either in the cellar with couch or at the Enz under trees.
After the official part of the day had passed us by, we rolled into the city center with pleased faces. There we found our happiness in burgers and fries, which we should not dispute even the beginning rain. Between puddles and thick drops of rain we moved on to Bryan’s Gentlemen’s Club. There we found a suitable conclusion in a nice atmosphere.
Explanation: Bryan’s is a barber who looks more like a concert location. Very clear, but furnished with a lot of style and countless musical exhibits, we were welcomed by cool beer, peaty whiskey and a musical session. Cool conclusion, cool weekend! Many thanks to Alex for the great time! See you soon.
