The Double Choc frameset is built for riding that accepts hard trails, load and unpredictability as inherent qualities rather than challenges to overcome. It exists for riders who think in days rather than hours, and who want a platform that remains stable, calm and trustworthy when routes become remote and conditions stop cooperating.
From the first ride, the Double Choc feels resolute. Geometry prioritises stability and load control, encouraging a riding position that supports long hours in the saddle with weight distributed confidently across rider and equipment. The bike remains predictable at low speeds and composed when rolling over rough, uneven terrain.
Acceleration is deliberate rather than eager. The frameset favours traction, smooth power transfer and consistency over urgency. This character carries through whether the bike is lightly loaded or built for full expedition use. Nothing about the ride feels fragile or time‑limited—the Double Choc feels built for commitment.
The frameset carries the same geometry, tubing selection and construction as every complete Double Choc. There is no reduced version here. What is left open is how far the rider chooses to take it.
From Trail to Enduro
We love backyard trails, but we also take off to the mountains as often as possible, so having a platform you can customize to your own geography and riding style is important.
Compliance is tuned to reduce fatigue over extended distances without isolating the rider from terrain. Surface feedback remains present, but harshness is controlled, allowing long days to accumulate rather than exhaust. This balance is crucial for riding that stretches across multiple days or challenging environments.
Open configuration, clear intent
Choosing the frameset means committing to a direction without being boxed into a specific solution. Drivetrain choice, wheel size and component selection are left intentionally open, allowing the Double Choc to be configured for expedition riding, extended touring or rugged self‑supported routes.
Mounting options and clearances support practical decisions rather than decorative versatility. Everything incorporated into the frame serves use over speculation.
The result is a frameset that feels prepared before it is built—and adaptable once it is.
Finished as a serious starting point
Every Double Choc frameset is finished individually. Frame size, colour and selected mounting options are defined during ordering before the frame is assembled and prepared in our workshop. Nothing here feels provisional.
The bike begins its life already resolved, ready to be shaped to fit a very specific kind of riding.

Sour Bicycles 4130 CrMo frame welded by hand in Saxony, featuring heat treated, multi-butted tubing.
The bottom bracket is a custom part designed by Sour and fits a standard 73mm BSA threaded bottom bracket. The headtube is also a Sour-specific design.
The rear triangle is 7075 T6 aluminum and is made by Actofive in Dresden. SRAM UDH derailleur hanger and Transmission-ready.
The seat clamp is designed in-house and is integrated into the frame. Should it ever fail, the frame can be professionally modified to use a traditional clamp, if repair of the original clamp is not possible. We have never seen one fail.

Below is the sample weight of a size medium Double Choc. This weight does not include powdercoating, but please keep in mind that your chose powdercoat may be heavier than the average coating we use. Fades, gradients, and metallic colours can weigh more than single solid colour. If you are interested the final weight, please get in touch. We apply an inside wax coating before shipping the frame to your door that will add additional weight.
Frames
A Sour Double Choc frameset weighs 3.8 kg in size medium with all it’s small parts and suspension pivots, bearings, and bolts installed. This weight is excluding powdercoat which will add between 50g and 200g depending on your color choice.
Included with your frame
Included with your Double Choc frame or frameset are all small parts, cable guides and bolts to build your bike. You get a rear thru-axle of course, and if you’re ordering a frameset, you get a front axle with your fork as well. Headsets are only included if you add one to your order.
