Description

The Space Cake frameset is offered for riders who already have a clear idea of how they want to build their bike, or who prefer full freedom in component choice from the very beginning.

Designed as a true all‑road platform, the frame and fork are built to balance efficiency, stability and comfort over long distances. Geometry, tubing and construction follow the same principles as our complete bikes — nothing about the frameset is simplified, reduced or treated differently.

This option leaves drivetrain, wheels and finishing components intentionally open. It’s suited to experienced builders, riders with specific preferences, or those integrating the Space Cake into an existing setup.

As with all our frames, the Space Cake frameset is finished individually. Frame size, color and selected mounting options are chosen during ordering, before the frame is assembled and prepared in our workshop.

At its core, the frameset carries the same design intent as every complete Space Cake. Geometry, tubing selection and construction follow the exact same principles—balanced handling, long‑distance comfort and quiet efficiency. There is no simplified version here. The frame rides exactly as intended, regardless of how it’s built up.

The Space Cake is designed as a true all‑road platform. It remains composed on long stretches of pavement, stable when routes lose their precision, and comfortable when kilometres accumulate over the course of a full day. Efficiency is present, but never at the expense of confidence. The bike doesn’t demand constant attention—it supports momentum instead of dictating it.

Freedom without compromise

Choosing the frameset means leaving key decisions intentionally open. Drivetrain configuration, wheel choice, finishing kit—all remain undefined until the build is brought together. Mechanical or electronic, 1× or 2×, lightweight or fully equipped: the frame supports them all without bias.

This option is curated for experienced riders, confident builders, or those integrating the Space Cake into an existing component ecosystem. It’s equally suitable for those with a clear technical vision or riders who simply value long‑term adaptability over immediate finality.

The geometry encourages stability rather than sharpness, making it forgiving across a wide range of setups. Whether built as a minimal all‑road machine or equipped for year‑round riding, the handling remains calm and predictable.

Built to be finished properly

Every Space Cake frameset is finished individually. Frame size, colour and mounting options are defined during ordering, long before components ever touch the bike. Assembly and preparation are handled in our workshop with the same care applied to complete builds.

This attention to detail ensures that the frameset isn’t just a starting point—it’s already a finished object, ready to become something uniquely personal. The bike you build from it reflects your riding, not a preset assumption.

For riders who know – or want to decide

The Space Cake frameset exists for those who don’t want to negotiate with a predefined setup. It offers structure without prescription, performance without direction, and character without constraint.

It’s not the quickest way to a complete bike.
But it’s often the most intentional one.

The Ultimate All-Road

This is Sour’s take on a road bike—light, responsive, and built for speed, but not afraid to ignore the rules. It’s for the roadies who like to get a little weird, the MTB riders looking for a fast training machine, and anyone who sees a gravel detour as an opportunity, not an obstacle. So, go ahead: hit the smooth stuff, seek out the rough patches, and leave the route up to your imagination.

It’s been a long time coming, building an all-road bike. No joke, it’s been in the planning hopper for more than three years at this point. All that goes to say that when we finally made the step, went “full-roadie”, we really wanted to do it right, and do it our way!

All Sour Bicycles frames are made by hand, one-by-one, in our own facility in Saxony, just outside of Dresden. We use custom tubing designed and drawn for our frames, it’s a multi-butted heat-treated 4130 CrMo steel that’s ready to stand the test of time. All our steel is produced from a partially recycled product in Germany and drawn by one of the worlds leading production facilities in Taiwan, the beating heart of the worlds bicycle production.

Our dropouts are designed in-house in Dresden and have a replaceable derailleur hanger.

The seat clamp is designed in-house and is integrated into the frame. Should it ever fail, the frame can be professionally modified to use a traditional clamp, if repair of the original clamp is not possible. We have never seen one fail.
