We offer two fundamentally different finishing processes for our frames and forks. Each process follows its own technical logic, comes with specific advantages, and imposes clear limitations. Choosing the right finish is not only a question of looks, but also of material compatibility, durability requirements and production method.
Powder Coating
Powder coating is an electrostatic coating process. The steel frame or fork is thoroughly cleaned, pre-treated and electrically charged. A dry powder is then applied, which adheres evenly to the surface. The coated part is cured in an oven, where the powder melts, flows and chemically cross-links into a uniform and highly durable coating.
Advantages of powder coating:
We’re proud of our powder coating. It’s Extremely high impact and abrasion resistance
Excellent corrosion protection
Uniform layer thickness
Very durable and low-maintenance surface
Well suited for hard use and daily riding
Due to the curing temperatures and the process itself, powder coating is only possible on steel frames and steel forks.
Decal Color availability for powder coating is limited by design.
We offer powder coating exclusively in:
- Black
- Silver
- Black with silver outline
No other colors, effects or custom shades are available for this process.
If a frame is ordered with a carbon fork, that fork will always be delivered in standard black matte. Exceptions are only possible if explicitly discussed and confirmed beforehand.
Wet Paint (Liquid Paint)
The second option is full wet paint, also known as liquid painting. This is a multi-stage process involving surface preparation, priming, base color application and clear coat, with controlled curing times between layers. Compared to powder coating, wet paint allows for much finer control over the visual outcome.
Advantages of wet paint:
Significantly greater flexibility in colors and finishes
Possibility for complex color schemes, fades and details
Precise control over coating thickness
Suitable for different materials
With wet paint, both frames and forks can be painted, including matched sets of steel frames and carbon forks.
Model-Specific Note
The Space Cake is fully wet-painted by default. Its finish concept and color options are designed specifically around the wet paint process and are not available as powder coat.
Important Notes on Color & Process Compatibility
This is one of the most important points to understand:
Colors are strictly process-specific.
A color offered as a powder coat does not automatically exist in wet paint, and a wet paint color cannot simply be replicated or transferred into powder coating.
The pigments, binders, curing processes and achievable effects differ significantly between the two methods. As a result:
- Powder colors exist only for powder coating
- Wet paint colors exist only for wet paint
- Special or custom colors cannot be swapped between processes
Please make sure to choose colors only from the list associated with the selected finish method.
Need Help?
We are fully aware that finishing options, color limitations and process differences can be a surprisingly complex topic — especially when combining different materials and models. If anything is unclear, or if you’re considering a specific setup and want to make sure it works technically and visually, don’t hesitate to ask.
We’re happy to guide you through the options and help find the most sensible solution for your build.
